14-Year-Old Wildlife Photographer
Sora Miyazawa
“Dr. Wolverine”
Ever since he was little, Sora has been curious and intrigued by the natural world. Raised in the center of urban Tokyo, he visited local parks and gardens in search of small creatures as a child. Sora took up his interest in photography when he was gifted a Nikon DSLR kit by his grandfather.
In 7th grade, he was introduced to birdwatching by his teacher, and from there, his passion for wildlife bloomed even further. From then on, he set out on his journey as a wildlife photographer and started exploring the incredibly rich biodiversity of Tokyo. Since then, he has improved as both a photographer and a wildlife lover. He has had the privilege to explore many different ecosystems from the tropical rainforests of Singapore to the freezing winter grasslands of Hokkaido. He continues to strive to improve his photography and aims to promote wildlife conservation through his works.
On Social Media, he is known as “Dr. Wolverine”, originally his username on ZooChat, from his love of Wolverines (Gulo gulo).
At just 14 Years Old, Sora has been recognized in multiple major photography competitions, such as being shortlisted in the 73rd annual Nikkor Photo Contest. Three of his images were also awarded in Australia Zoo’s Crikey! Magazine Photo Contest.
Aside from wildlife photography, Sora is also Japan’s youngest Elvis Tribute Artist and enjoys singing to crowds while promoting the legacy of the king.
